wedding day (Requested by Onewismyyeobo)

You sat in the side room of the building. The sun was shining brightly through the small window, illuminating everything. Any darkness that would’ve liked to exist was immediately chased away. You sat on a stool as your friends busied themselves with you. One asked you to close your eyes as she brushed makeup onto your eye lids, another tugged at your hair, and yet another was standing on the side, consistently telling you how beautiful you were.

You heard them all talking about the excitement of the day, but their words barely reached your ears.

Inside your mind you were having your own conversations with yourself.

Was this the right choice?

Did you pick the right dress?

Would he really be who he said he was?

Would this really be forever?

The thoughts filled your mind and you felt yourself getting sick.

‘No.’ You thought.

Memories danced in your mind.

The day you met.

Your first date.

The day he asked you to be his.

Your first kiss.

Your first night together.

Your first fight.

Your first apartment.

The day he proposed.

Tears filled your eyes as you relived each memory and felt your hand where the wedding ring would be.

“Are you alright?” You heard your friend ask. You turned to her and smiled, nodding gently. You stood up and walked towards the mirror, hardly recognizing the woman you were seeing.

She wore an elegant white dress. Her hair was tied up like a queen’s would be. a veil was placed on top of her head, flowing down her back and eventually blending in with her dress. Her shoes were nearly invisible, but you could see them sparkle from beneath the skirt. she wore no jewelry but a delicate necklace that was shaped in a heart.  Her king had given that to her for her birthday. Her fingers grasped the pendant carefully and a smile appeared on the womans face.
Her makeup was perfect. Her eyes sparkled, her lips were red, her cheeks held a natural looking glow.

You realized that the beautiful queen in the mirror was you.

Your heart jumped at the realization and you felt like you may faint. Before you had the chance, you heard a knock at the door. Your friends opened it and relayed a message.

It was time.

You waited in the back of the auditorium, hands clutching a bouquet of flowers that you had ordered, but couldn’t recall. You forced yourself to take deep breaths as you watched your friends walk down ahead of you. Finally, you saw everyone stand and turn towards the back. Music played and the doors swung open.

Gasps were heard throughout the room, but the attendees were none of your concern.

As you looked straight ahead you saw the only thing that did concern you.

Standing at the alter, tears in his eyes, was your king.

As you walked towards him, you felt your heart race. Any fears you had previously were gone and you wanted nothing more than to run to him, have him hold you in his arms, and apologize for doubting. One look in his eyes and you knew he wanted nothing more than to hold you close and tell you he loved you.

You both knew that after this, you would have all the time in the world.

The preacher began to speak, but you weren’t paying attention. Your king held your hands in his, gently rubbing his thumb over your fingers. His eyes never left yours.

You both said your vows as promises, which they were. Promises you intended to keep forever.

The ceremony continued without you realizing. Nothing more mattered until you were asked if you would stay with this man. Through sickness and health. Through rich and poor. Until the day the breath left your body.

He agreed and the final words that would seal your marriage were uttered.

“You may now kiss the bride.”

There was no denying the joy that filled your kings face as he pulled you into his arms and pressed his lips against yours. With his kiss, he sealed your fates. You were destined to be with this man until the day you died.

You couldn’t be happier.

As you turned to face the friends and family members that were seated before you, you couldn’t help but smile. Everyone stood and cheered and watched as you and your husband walked down the aisle out of the auditorium. Off to start your life together
.

Not as king and queen, not as a boy and a girl…

But as Husband and Wife.

From then until forever.

Even after death.
